About the hostess
I'm Julie Marckres, resident proprietress of Journey's Salon & Guest House, a 5th generation born and raised Vermonter. In 1990 I decided to journey to the west coast. After a very brief stay in California, I moved up the coast to Portland, Oregon where I took up residence for 25 years. With the desire to be closer to my family and a series of life changes, I decided to move back to Vermont. I have been a cosmetologist/barber for 31 years and had no idea what I wanted to do when I returned, stay in my profession or try something different. I decided to sleep on it for a while.
I woke up one day about 2 weeks later, knowing exactly what I wanted to do and where I wanted to do it. Hence the idea for Journey's Salon & Guest House here in North Troy, Vermont was born. I love people and loved the idea of running a salon from my home while offering lodging to travelers in Northern Vermont's North East Kingdom. Not only do I provide high quality salon services to local residents and travelers alike, I also get to share my home with guests from all over the world. Vermont is renowned for its natural beauty; what better way to share my love of such a beautiful place than to open my heart and home for people to enjoy. It is my desire that your visit to Journey's, whether you are visiting my salon or staying in one of my rooms, leave you feeling a little more refreshed than when you arrived. Thank you for visiting my web site.
